Preliminary public information on the DMP workshop on
Rebuilding bridges between
standardisation and industry
(Osaka, JP - 2004/07/12)
Standards play an important role for industry. In recent years, however, there has been a growing disconnect between the world of formal standard and industry. This workshop provides an opportunity for representatives of the "converging industries" (CE, broadcasting, IT, telco, content etc.) to express their standardisation needs and the problems they perceive with the current arrangement, and suggest of how things can be improved.
This workshop is a prelude of the start of DMP work on "Development of and Access to Standards" leading to the Publication of Recommended Actions on how to improve the way standards are developed and actually used.
Attendance at the workshop will be open to individuals claiming special knowledge of the topic. Please note that precedence will be given to speakers and DMP members, as the venue has limited seating capacity. There will be no meeting fees. If you plan to attend please inform the DMP Secretariat (firstname.lastname@example.org) of your intention.
