Nearest stations on the London Underground are Mile End on Hammersmith and City, District and Central lines; and Stepney Green on the Hammersmith and City and District lines. Both stations are in Zone 2 of the London Underground and five minutes walking from Queen Mary University.
Further travel information and maps of London Underground can be found at: http://www.qmul.ac.uk/about/campus/mileend/index.html
It is suggested a pay as you go (top-up) travel card called OYSTER as the cheapest way moving around in London as well as avoiding queuing for buying tickets every time you travel. It costs 3GBP but it is refundable. You could buy it at your arrival in UK. Photo is not necessary. Info on OYSTER https://oyster.tfl.gov.uk/oyster/entry.do

Suggested arrival routes from some airports
These suggestions are simple routes, not necessarily the cheapest or fastest routes.
London Heathrow
Take
the
Heathrow Express to London Paddington station
(Journey time 15-20 mins, runs every 15 mins. Costs about £29 return, plus
£2 if you buy on the train.)
On the London Underground , take the Bakerloo Line Southbound to Oxford Circus.
Change
to the Central
Line.
Travel Eastbound to Mile End. Walk to the Campus.
Allow about 1 hour total travel time.
Alternative route (cheaper): From Heathrow, take the London Undergound: Piccadilly Line Eastbound to Holborn (pronounced "hoe-burn"). Change to the Central Line, and travel Eastbound to Mile End, as above. Allow up to 1 1/2 hour total travel time.
London Gatwick
Take
the
Gatwick Express to London Victoria station.
(Journey time about 30 mins, runs about every 15 mins. Costs £11 single,
£21.50 return)
On
the
London Underground, take the
District Line
Eastbound to Stepney Green station. Walk to the Campus.
Allow at least 1 hour total travel time.
Alternative route (may be a little faster/cheaper): From Gatwick, take the Thameslink City Flyer to Blackfriars. Change to the District Line, and travel Eastbound to Stepney Green station, as above. Note that Thameslink tickets are not valid on the Gatwick Express.
London Stansted
Take
the
Stansted Express to London Liverpool Street station.
(Journey time about 45 mins, runs about every 30 mins. Costs £13 single,
£23 return.)
On
the
London Underground, take the
Hammersmith and City Line
Eastbound to Stepney Green Station. Walk to the Campus.
Allow about 1 hour total travel time.
Occasionally the Hammersmith and City Line may have long gaps (10 mins or longer) between trains. If you don't want to wait at Liverpool Street Station, you can go instead to the Central Line and travel to Mile End station.
London City Airport
Take the green Airport Shuttle Bus to Canning Town station. (Journey time about 5-10 mins, frequent service. Costs about £2.50 single).
On the London Underground, take the Jubilee Line Northbound to West Ham.
Change
to the
District Line
or Hammersmith
and City Line
Wesbound to Stepney Green Station (both lines run from the same platform).
Walk to the Campus.
Total travel time about 45 mins.
London City Airport is about 5 miles east of the campus, in the London Docklands. You may wish to consider getting a Taxi ("black cab"): the fare to the campus is probably about £10-£15, or £25-£30 to Central London.
