Announcement

The 18th General Assembly (GA18) of the Digital Media Project will be held on 2008/05/03-04 at

If you intend to attend the DMP events please note the following

• Communicate your intention to attend to
  • the DMP Secretariat (mailto:secretariat@dmpf.org?subject=Attendance at DMP GA18) by 15th of April
• Attendance at the Ad hoc group meeting and DMP General Assembly is reserved to
  • DMP members
  • Exceptionally non members who are part of a member's contingent.

Objectives

The principal objectives of the meeting are

• Extend IDP-3.1 to v. 3.2

• Review ongoing experiments with Chillout

• Review progress with the WIM TV Trial at Beijing Olympics

• Plan responses to expected MPEG calls

  • MPEG eXtensible Middleware (MXM)

  • Media Value Chain Ontology

Coffee breaks

• On Saturday (May 03), Cafétéria L'Esplanade at EPFL is open. The participants can have coffee break there, or I can go there to buy food and coffee and bring them to the meeting rooms.
• On Sunday (May 04), there are no coffee bars open on campus. The coffee break can be held at the library room ELE 223. There are a coffee machine and a drinking machine in the room, and some cookie, cake, cup, juice, tea, coffee, cream, and sugar will be prepared there.

Lunches

• On Saturday (May 03): Restaurant DORIGNY, at UNIL or Restaurant de Taverne de l'Uni, a la Cerisaie.
• On Sunday (May 04): Restaurant L'Empire du Dragon or La Roulotte at EPFL(only Pizza).

Travel information

The following airports may be used

1. Geneva Airport – 45 minutes by car, or 50 minutes by train
2. Zurich Airport – 2 hours by car, or 2h30 by train
3. Basel Airport – 1h45 by car, or 2h00 by train

Lausanne is a city with good transportation facilities. It is recommended that you select an accommodation in the center of Lausanne or in the Ouchy area (by the Lake). EPFL can be reached easily from Center of Lausanne and from Ouchy either by Taxi (20 minutes ride, 25 CHF) or by Metro.

No visas are needed for the citizens of the following countries: countries of the American Continent (except Belize, Dominican Republic, Haiti, and Peru), Europe, Japan, Australia and New Zealand.

For some nationalities an invitation letter is required for entry visa to Switzerland. Such a letter can be provided upon request.
